Launching DesignerGiving: A Luxury Marketplace Where Fashion Meets Compassion

A Purpose-Led Marketplace With a Clear Mission
We’re pleased to share the launch of DesignerGiving, a new online marketplace that brings together luxury fashion, thoughtful shopping and charitable giving.
Founded by Lucy Chatting, DesignerGiving has been built around a simple but powerful idea: helping beautiful pre-loved designer items find a new home while giving back to children’s charities.
The platform gives buyers a way to shop quality pre-loved fashion with purpose, while sellers can list luxury items and donate a percentage from each sale to one of DesignerGiving’s chosen charities. Alongside designer clothing and accessories, the site also includes a growing gift and home selection, giving customers more ways to shop thoughtfully and support a good cause.
For us, this was exactly the kind of project we enjoy working on. It was not just another eCommerce website. It was a marketplace with a story, a mission and a real need for a digital platform that could support both the commercial and charitable sides of the idea.
What DesignerGiving Does
DesignerGiving is an online marketplace for buying and selling pre-loved designer and lifestyle pieces, alongside a carefully chosen range of gift and home items that give back.
The site includes categories for women’s clothing, men’s clothing, children’s clothing, footwear and accessories, alongside DG Shop Home and DG Shop Gifts. This gives the platform a wider appeal than a standard fashion resale site, while keeping the core purpose clear: every purchase has the potential to contribute to something meaningful.
At its heart, DesignerGiving sits at the intersection of three important themes:
- Pre-loved and circular fashion
- Luxury resale and conscious shopping
- Online giving and charity-led commerce
That combination creates an interesting challenge from a web development point of view. The site needs to feel premium enough for luxury products, simple enough for buyers to browse and purchase confidently, and structured enough to support sellers, categories, content and future growth.
Building More Than a Standard Online Shop
A standard online shop is usually built around one business selling its own products.
A marketplace is different.
With DesignerGiving, the platform needs to support a wider set of journeys. Buyers need to discover products quickly, understand the purpose behind the site and feel confident checking out. Sellers need a clear route into the platform. The brand needs space to explain its story, its charities and the reason the marketplace exists.
That means the build has to balance design, usability, structure and long-term flexibility.
Our work focused on creating a strong digital foundation for the platform, including:
- A clean and intuitive shopping experience
- Clear product and category structure
- Mobile-friendly browsing
- Purpose-led content pages
- Marketplace-focused user journeys
- Donation tracking and charity reporting tools
- Buyer and seller donation communication
- Search engine optimisation foundations
- Performance and usability considerations
- A launch-ready structure that can grow over time
As with many of our projects, the important work is not always the part users see first. A good website needs to feel simple on the surface, but that simplicity comes from careful planning underneath.
Making the Giving Side Visible
One of the important parts of the DesignerGiving build was making sure the charitable side of the platform could be tracked, reported and communicated clearly.
Because DesignerGiving is built around giving back, the site needed more than a simple checkout process. It needed a way to help track the donations generated through the platform, support reporting for the charities involved and keep buyers and sellers connected to the impact they are helping create.
As part of the build, we worked on the systems behind the scenes to support donation reporting, charity statistics and communication around giving. This includes reporting tools for the charity side of the platform, along with emails that can help buyers and sellers understand the donations generated through their activity.
This is an important part of what makes DesignerGiving different. The charitable element is not just a message on the website. It is built into the way the platform operates.
For a purpose-led marketplace, that matters. People want to know that their purchase or sale has made a difference, and the platform needs to be able to support that clearly and reliably without making the customer journey feel complicated.
A Premium Experience With a Human Purpose
One of the key aims for DesignerGiving was making sure the site did not feel like a generic resale platform.
The brand has a strong human story behind it, and that needed to come through in the experience. Visitors should quickly understand that this is about more than buying and selling designer pieces. It is about shopping with purpose, supporting children’s charities and creating positive impact through the platform.
That meant the site needed to communicate several things at once:
- The quality of the products
- The charitable purpose behind the platform
- The simplicity of buying and selling
- The wider gift and home offering
- The credibility of the DesignerGiving story
For an eCommerce project, this balance matters. A site can have all the right functionality, but if the message is unclear, users hesitate. Good eCommerce development is not just about building pages and product grids. It is about helping customers understand where they are, what they can do next and why it matters.
Supporting SEO From the Start
Search engine optimisation is much easier when it is considered from the beginning of a build rather than treated as an afterthought.
For a marketplace like DesignerGiving, SEO matters for both brand discovery and product discovery. People may search for pre-loved designer fashion, luxury resale, designer accessories, charity shopping, sustainable fashion, designer gifts or homeware that gives back. The platform needs the right structure in place to support those searches as the product range and content grow.
That does not mean forcing keywords into every paragraph. It means building a site with clear categories, useful content, sensible page structure and a strong technical foundation.
For DesignerGiving, the SEO opportunity is especially strong because the platform naturally connects several valuable search areas:
- Pre-loved designer fashion
- Sustainable fashion marketplace
- Luxury resale
- Charity eCommerce
- Designer accessories
- Gifts that give back
- Homeware that gives back
- Children’s charity fundraising
A good website should not only look right on launch day. It should give the business room to build visibility over time.
A Thoughtful Build for a Purpose-Led Brand
Projects like DesignerGiving work best when the technology supports the idea without getting in the way.
The site needed to feel clear, easy to use and aligned with the purpose behind the brand. Visitors should be able to browse products, understand the charitable element and move through the site without friction.
From a development point of view, the focus was on creating a strong foundation that could support the marketplace as it grows. That includes the product structure, the browsing experience, the content pages and the overall performance of the site.
There is always a balance with this kind of project. The platform needs to be practical and robust, but it also needs to feel personal. DesignerGiving has a clear story behind it, so the website needed to give that story room to come through while still doing the job of a modern eCommerce platform.
That was the main aim of the build: to create something polished, usable and ready to grow with the brand.
